Zoonoses and One Health Approach
The MLAF has launched a vital awareness initiative focusing on zoonoses and the One Health Approach. This program, funded by Humanity Beyond Barriers, USA, aims to educate and build capacity for surveillance and prevention of zoonotic and food-borne diseases among vulnerable populations, particularly school 5000 students and 200 butchers.
We welcome everyone to support us in running this activity all over the country, helping to safeguard public health by addressing zoonoses and food-borne diseases, particularly among those most at risk.
Primary Goals of the project are:
Awareness and Education:
- Pathogens and Disease Transmission: Teaching the causes and spread of zoonotic and foodborne diseases.
- Prevention Methods: Providing information on how to prevent these diseases through safe practices and hygiene.
Sustainability and Community Involvement:
- One Health Clubs: Establishing clubs in target schools to promote ongoing education and awareness.
- One Health Heroes: Selecting class representatives through student votes to lead the initiative and champion health messages
Impact:
- Empowered Students: Thousands of children are equipped with essential health knowledge, contributing to healthier communities.
- Informed Butchers: Butchers gain crucial insights into disease prevention, promoting safer food handling practices.
- Sustainable Practices: The formation of One Health Clubs ensures continuous education and community engagement.
